Instead of giving up something I am increasing my prayer time during the 2016 Lenten Season.  For me this means that I must turn off the television and get a good night’s sleep so that I can spend time in prayer in the early morning.  Truth is the contemplative life calls to me at this stage in my journey with Christ.  Silence and listening have opened my heart to the movement of the Spirit.  I’ve been on this journey of developing a more contemplative lifestyle for the last two years.  I’m finding that the spiritual disciplines of spending time in quiet reflection, journaling, and being still and silent have deepened my awareness of the presence of God. I’ll be sure to lift you up in prayer, please do the same for me.
