The Philadelphia Baptist Association (PBA) is the oldest continuing communities of Baptist congregations in the United States. PBA was founded in 1707 by five Baptist churches in Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and Delaware to be a witness and transforming association for Jesus Christ. Since its founding, PBA has helped to shape the fabric of American life and values.
PBA consists of 110 American Baptist congregations that worship and serve God together in a 5-county area in southeastern Pennsylvania, and a few churches in Delaware and other counties in Pennsylvania. With more than 60,000 members from African American, Burmese, Cantonese, Chinese, European, Latinx, Latvian, Haitian, and Liberian cultural and linguistic backgrounds, PBA remains one of the most diverse regions of American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA). We serve as one of thirty-three regions that support the ministries and mission of ABCUSA.
